A TV Program About Alcohol Dependence Signs Results In Discouraging Emotions About A Female's Abusive Drinking

Sharon had been engaging in excessive drinking behavior since her sophomore year in college. Now, three years later, she drank more than ever. One Wednesday evening when she was feeling a little under the weather, Sharon made up her mind to stay home, chill out, and watch television. While searching for something to watch that would grab hold of her interest, she immediately became captivated with a special program about adolescent and young adult drinking predicaments.

The commenter articulated the difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism and then got into the subject of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the narrator went into detail about an individual's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more widespread alcohol dependency symptoms and signs that alcohol addicted individuals manifest, Sharon got quite worried because it virtually seemed as if the narrator was talking explicitly to her.

After watching the television special, Sharon made a promise to herself that she would call her health care provider the following morning and make an appointment to discuss her abusive and unhealthy drinking.

When the following morning arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her health care professional and scheduled an appointment. In the meantime, she went on the Internet and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: serious work-related and relationship problems, increasing irritability, sleep problems, sneaking a few extra drinks before social events, and making excuses to drink at almost every opportunity.

In a word, since Sharon displayed all of these symptoms she went into greater detail in her Internet search and found more than a few blogs and websites that articulated different alcoholism warning signs and symptoms. One of the signs that really caught her curiosity was the following: "Do you typically drink after stating to yourself that you won't?"

Another alcohol dependency sign that grabbed her attention was the following: "Have family members aggravated you by criticizing your irresponsible drinking?" A third alcohol dependency warning sign was the following: "Do you desire a drink when you first get up in the morning?"

The final alcohol dependency warning sign that made her feel especially apprehensive about her abusive and excessive drinking was the following: "Has your enthusiasm for life shrunk since you started drinking more habitually?" When Sharon read this sign she visibly recognized that drinking had become a critical problem in her life because of her lack of energy and also because she quit pursuing her passions and her dreams.

After pondering the significance of all of these injurious alcoholic symptoms and signs, Sharon at first felt miserable. Then something thrilling happened. She reflected on the fact knew that she was going to see her physician about her abusive and excessive drinking and she also realized that she would talk about her alcoholic warning symptoms and signs.

In fact, for the first time in several months, Sharon honestly felt a sense of hope because she was confronting her abusive and excessive drinking and was in the end ready to make the required modifications so that she could restore the life that was slipping away.
