A Married Couple Becomes Upset About Their Unhealthy Drinking And Wonders If They Manifest Any Alcoholism Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for nine years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they decided to have a family and so they consciously established an incredibly exciting social life.

The basic difficulty, it needs to be stressed, is that practically everything they do socially includes drinking. For instance, all of the parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, and family get-togethers they frequent somehow include drinking.

If they were casual drinkers this wouldn't be a big deal. Given the fact that they drink rather heavily, however, they are starting to notice some obvious alcohol-related issues in their lives.

As an illustration, just two days ago Lenny was apprehended by the police for a third DWI and has been calling off from work due to alcohol-related health problems. Furthermore, Lenny's last two performance evaluations at his place of employment have been less than praiseworthy and he has begun to fail to recall what he says or does while he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get nervous about his drinking problems.

In a similar manner, Angie has been feeling unhappy with life in general and to deal with this, she has been drinking more than any time in the past year. In addition, Angie has been experiencing quite a few painful headaches and experiencing excruciating hangovers because of her drinking. As a final point, Angie has been feeling significantly less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been receiving some insensitive criticism from her family members, coworkers, friends, and relatives about her excessive and careless drinking.

One Sunday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie flipped through the channels and found a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This television documentary was a real source of discovery to Angie and Lenny because quite a few of the alcohol facts that were emphasized seemed like they were directly associated with quite a few of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the television documentary still imprinted in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are alcoholic or conceivably becoming dependent on alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the physicians at the local alcohol treatment facility to find out more about the severity of their drinking circumstances.

Ironically, although their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was evident that Angie and Lenny were at least addressing their drinking issues, they were ready to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in learning how they could notably cut down the severity or do away with the alcohol-related problems that had started to worsen.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they came to a decision that the next day, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment center located in the middle of town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking problems that had manifested themselves in their lives, they truly had the most peaceful night's sleep they could remember in the last five weeks.
